A batch of
Oatcakes can be knocked up in under an hour, usually I just produce the classic round shape but
as it's Christmas I've busted out the star and heart cutters!
These bars are modern relatives of the Scottish
oatcake, a crumbly, barely sweet biscuit (
as they say in the British Isles) served for breakfast or with tea.
I take the plate, a knife and a packet of
oatcakes into the gloom next door, set them on the dining table and listen
as the kettle bubbles itself to a climax.
