In the film's closing shot (* SPOILER ALERT *), we see our hero cruelly cuckolded
as his lover sleepwalks into the
sea to become the fish
monster's bride.
After this opening drama, we see Gramma Tala (voice of Rachel House, «Hunt for the Wilderpeople») scaring small children of their island by relating ancient stories of
sea monsters and such; all except little Moana (voice of Auli'i Cravalho, a Hawaiian high school sophomore making her film debut), who is drawn to the
sea, even
as a baby.
Of course, there are a few new characters
as well, including Stellan Skarsgaard
as Will's infamous pirate father Bootstrap Bill (who was briefly mentioned in the first film), Naomie Harris
as a mysterious seer, and the Kraken, a fabled
sea monster (controlled by Davy Jones) named for the sound that it makes just before it smashes your ship to pieces.

Seas caught my eye back when it debuted on iOS in 2013, but I don't own any iOS devices so I never played it
as a mobile game.
You begin your adventure
as a rookie hunter, who is given the monumental task of defeating a giant
sea monster that is victimizing a fishing village.
Although completely deadpan in its approach, nothing is played for seriousness,
as even the costumes have been crafted in a comical way (like something out of «Sigmund & the
Sea Monsters»).

The story could easily have been played
as a comedy — Winters, author of the mash - up Sense and Sensibility and

as the author whereas I didn't take notice of the author of Sense and Sensibility and
Sea Monsters.
