When beaded board appears in extensive applications, such
as wainscoting and backsplashes, it makes a fetching farmhouse statement.
Same situation in the main bath, where the subway tiles are not the same
as the wainscoting + vanity.
I love the beadboard but we already have
it as wainscoting in the room and I thought it would be overkill!

I brought in more brown wood, but I tempered it by painting the cabinets white and suggesting they use chippy, white - painted Stikwood
as wainscoting around the perimeter of the room.
Thinking corrugated steal
as wainscoting with a little shelf above it.

Wainscoting on a Budget — Week Three One Room Challenge
As time and budget allow, we'll add plantation shutters,
wainscoting, and perhaps some other trim.
You might notice we didn't do any wood behind the trim,
as is typical of real board and batten
wainscoting.
You could also ditch the
wainscoting / trim molding idea all together to create «distraction - free» walls, but I think
as long
as the contrast is low, whatever you do with your
wainscoting / trim molding will add character to the room and look lovely!
The plan is to add a white tongue and groove
wainscoting on the lower half of the powder room wall (and we might have to step that plan up, since my toilet paper holder has now fallen off the wall leaving giant holes, which actually is a blessing in disguise
as a TP holder was not intended to be a part of that wall grouping!
Having just spent the equivalent of sticker price on a new car having
wainscoting installed and painted in half my house — and seeing the craftsmanship that went into all of it — I'm in awe that she tackled that
as a diy project.
Once I added the hooks and
wainscoting to the left side of the front door in the entry, the need for more «entry space» in the adjoining living room didn't seem
as important or necessary, but we still are intrigued with using the living room
as a «gathering» room
as opposed to a formal living room.
Then in the process of planning how to fix the holes left by the TP holder, you decide you might
as well add
wainscoting.
We dramatically amped up the character and aesthetic of the staircase by: removing the old carpet; refinishing the treads in the same grey stain
as the floors; painting out the posts, banister, and spindles in white; and by carrying the
wainscoting up the stair wall.
Eventually I'd love to add
wainscoting as well.
I of course had grander visions of stunning wallpaper and beefy
wainscoting and a new solid wood door with new hardware, but because of how many projects I have planned around our new house to make this into our home, I decided to forgo anything fancier or more complicated (and costly) and go with PAINT
as my decorating tool of choice.
Wainscoting and beaded - board ceilings contribute depth
as well
as sheen.
Here, beaded - board
wainscoting sets a cottage backdrop that highlights antique furnishings — including a vintage dresser, a chipped - up basket, and an industrial cart — that find new life
as storage pieces.
The brown tiled wall section was replaced with white painted (same color
as above) wood
wainscoting to break up the bold pattern on these very large walls.
The couple mimicked the white
wainscoting and neutral walls, and to breathe authenticity into the vintage room, found a claw foot tub
as at a local salvage shop for $ 70, then had it reglazed and repainted.
Before I sealed the mantel with Miss Mustard Seed's Beeswax, I added a piece of
wainscoting painted in the same color
as the mantel to cover up the opening.
we even recreated the
wainscoting to match the original (5 ft of t & g with a picture ledge) and the built in dressers are the same
as the original
as well, only they were glass front cabinets on either side of the window seat rather than drawers.
I had the idea to paint the walls above the
wainscoting an emerald green to make the place pub - like, but now we use it
as a rec room and its all a bit too much.
I love the colors in the maps against the crisp white
wainscoting as well
as the minty accents.
