progressive neurological degeneration and
muscle weakness.
Zika infection is also strongly
associated with Guillain - Barré Syndrome (GBS), an autoimmune disease that attacks the peripheral nervous system, leading to rapidly
progressive and potentially life - threatening
muscle weakness.
