Bowling is at the center of one the group exhibitions: Bowling's Friends, opening
at the Cello Factory, London, on May 23.
The other group shows include Migrations, which opened January 31 at Tate Britain (this show explores the theme of migration from 1500 to the present, reflecting the range of the Tate Britain's collections); British Design, 1948 - 2012: Innovation in the Modern Age, opening at the Victoria and Albert Museum on March 31; and A Family Affair, opening
at the Cello Factory on June 2.
Five artists have been invited by Erika Winstone to exhibit together
at the Cello Factory over a three - day period.
This year's show
at The Cello Factory forms an extension of the Group's prolific exhibiting activities which range from 2009's enormously successful «Open» exhibition at the Menier Gallery, to the recent «Inspiration» exhibition at Kensington and Chelsea College which examined teaching and influences in and out of the British Art School system.
Successful entrants to this year's Open will see their work hung in one of two exhibitions staged during November and December 2017
at The Cello Factory.
76 artists were selected to show work alongside 61 London Group members at two exhibitions held
at The Cello Factory in Waterloo, in May and June 2013.
In her latest exhibition
at The Cello Factory, near Waterloo, she explores her interest in the brain, a kind of negotiated looking, which slows down and spotlights awareness as it flows.

The sweeping electric
cello theme introduced in «A Family Presses Close» is really quite attractive; and the action music that follows in «Formation of the Terra Cotta Army» isn't really that far from Silvestri's style in the previous score - until the startling Bernard Herrmann quotation
at the end, which for some reason takes me by surprise every time I listen to the track!
The two concert pieces included
at the end of disc two are a real boon (particularly the «Rhapsody for
Cello and Orchestra»); and while this album as a whole ought to disprove any notion that this score is all about its famous main theme, these two pieces serve as a reminder of just how good that theme is.

Daniel Crawford, a
