He was awarded a Creative Capital / Warhol Foundation Grant in 2010 and was named critic in residence at the Bronx Museum in 2011.

The panelists this year were: Gary Carrion - Murayari, Kraus Family Curator, New Museum; Lisa Dent, Director of Resources & Award Programs, Creative Capital; Stamatina Gregory, independent curator and critic and Associate Dean of the School of Art at The Cooper Union.

He was the recipient of an Arts Writer Grant from Creative Capital and the Andy Warhol Foundation, and is currently a faculty member at the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College and in the MFA program for the Visual Arts at Columbia University.

«We hope that the exhibition provides our audience with an intriguing look at some of the ideas and approaches that distinguish art making at this point of time, in one of world's most significant creative capitals,» stated Ferrer in an exhibition release.

Previous awards include Creative Capital Visual Artist Award (2015), Radcliffe Institute for Advance Study at Harvard University Visual Arts Fellowship (2014), Rema Hort Mann Foundation Emerging Artist Grant (2014), and the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant (2012).
