The six works on display
at the Glass House were all created before his first solo exhibition in New York City at Mary Boone Gallery in 1979.
It was a personal pleasure to gather these works here
at the Glass House.
The final installation, in the last five weeks, is of Philip and David's permanent collection that resides
at the Glass House.
These smaller works in the Painting Gallery's foyer are among those from the holdings
at the Glass House that have never been on view to the public.
On display will also be major works from the permanent collection, some of which have not been formally exhibited
at the Glass House in years, including the 1972 nine - image portrait of Philip Johnson by Andy Warhol.
Irene Shum Allen (Curator and Collections Manager, The Glass House) provides us with an introduction to Philip Johnson as an art patron, and presents three major works on display
at The Glass House: an outdoor sculpture by Donald Judd (Untitled, 1971), which is believed to be Judd's first outdoor site - specific installation; the painting Averroes (1960) by Frank Stella; and Bruce Nauman's neon sculpture Neon Templates of the Left Half of My Body Taken at Ten Inch Intervals from 1966.
Besides the potent beauty of «Narcissus Garden»
at the Glass House, the pairing of the two projects evokes connections between Ms. Kusama and Johnson.
