You can have any tau you want between
at least 40 and 400 years and still get a good fit by varying a. It's even worse if you cherry -
pick tau by making calculations with a favorable year's flux and
stock imbalance (as Dietze does) or ignore all time series information by making calculations aggregated over a century.
Sometimes they make money but I would imagine that they lose most of the time —
at least that is what all the analayses of professional
stock -
picking suggests.
