My husband was delighted to hear that he could eat more safe starches, although we are eating sweet potatoes, white potatoes, white rice and rice bread (for toast with egg), he was keeping the total safe starch calories low.

Would this be a confounding factor that paints a picture of unhealthy habits that was ignored — just like as Ravi pointed out above so were the foods these people ate with their eggs over the years, which probably included white or wheat toast, with a schmear of margarine (industrial seed oils & fake trans fats) & some jelly or jam (high fructose corn syrup)?

In the last few days alone, I've eaten two chocolate bars from the mini-bar, mud cake, white bread rolls smothered in aoili and chicken, toast slathered with pate for brekkie, fried noodles, spring rolls... But, after a while, I start hankering for simple food.
