If as you say you have talked to others who claim to be
Atheist the way you describe it then they are IDIOTS who also don't understand Atheism and yes at that
point since they are claiming «no God» to be true, then by all means call their

view a «religion».
The
Atheist point of
view speaks ONLY to the case of your God being real or not.
It is what has lead me to my veiw that Atheism as a religion, the passion most
Atheist have for their

view from the start you may not fall in this category but I'm sure you know someone that does.The same applies to Christians that freak out on someone and start forcing their
view on others, I see that as wrong also if someone asks or brings the debate to you then by all means debate but why be rude how does it help?

Powerful lobbies such as the Pro Israel lobby, American
Atheists and many others pay top dollar to have shills come to these forums, spread their agenda and copy whatever info they can get about the people who disagree with their

It is to the
point where my agnostic friend would rather be inclined to believe in God rather than concede to the type of world

In this case, I was agreeing with the poster I was responding to, Fr33d0mhawk, but

atheists have a diverse set of
views and therefore it's difficult to form groups since we are independent thinkers.
The
point to being an
atheist and involved in these discussions is that for better or worse much of the country votes with some religion involved in their
views.
Furthermore, the entire
point of my post was to show that even though I am a Christian and do not agree with the
atheist view of God (which is to say the idea of the absense of God), I STILL support this soldier in their right to attend the ceremony and NOT have to bow their head, and believe that any Christian or other person who would force this soldier to do so by threat of removal from the ceremony, is just plain wrong.

On the contrary, he finds it useful to ponder an array of reductionist attempts to explain the existence of religion, from that which seeks to pinpoint the area of the human brain or the specific genes connected to religiosity to that which sees religion as a malfunction of the human mind or a vestigial remnant from a primitive stage of human development suitable only for whimpering, immature dullards (a

It is, in effect, an attempt to set an
atheist point of
view within the spectrum of Christian possibilities.
It just goes to
point that now as
Atheist have become bolder and having well deserved pride in being
Atheist the comments have gone from a
Atheist questioning a Faithful's
view on God to often opening with the claim that there is not a God.
If you identify as a an «
atheist» (and to many religious people, there's very little inclination to make fine nuanced distinction between «nones», «non-affiliated», «agnostic», «
atheist» - they all get conceptually lumped together as «unbelieving
atheist heathen» (tm) from the
point of
view of someone highly devout in a monotheistic Abrahamic tradition), there's plenty of strongly religious people who - according to polls - would refuse to vote for you.
So, we wear clothes not just to keep us warm, but also for the very same reason why some Muslim women wear the burka (from an
atheist point of
view, the religious reasons should be interpreted as social reasons) and our laws mandate that you have to wear clothes for exactly that reason.
