There are certainly good, happy, loving, giving, compassionate believers, and... there are certainly good, loving, happy giving, compassionate atheists and agnostics... and people of (other religions) for that matter.

As an atheist, I can say that death is a terrible loss because the dead person is gone and never coming back, however for a christian, that person is still alive and well in heaven, happy as a pig in sh.it and yet people are still sad at funerals.

Christmas is more than a religious holiday — it is a time for everyone, not just Christians, and I am happy that atheist group had the balls to put that up.
If someone else is an atheist and in AA — sober and happy... you should be happy for them, too.
Happy Jack — I didn't say there was a set of established morals for Atheists, in fact i noted that there was NOT a set of morals, if you want to know if Atheists have morals and where they come from you'd probably have to ask an atheist, my post was simply pointing to the fact that the dictators i was talking about did not have a specific set of morals telling them that Murdering millions of people was wrong.
Most atheists are quite happy for you to believe whatever you want — we get tetchy when you start insisting that we ALSO believe what you believe, or at least that we shut up and not put up any sort of fight.

I pay my taxes, including those taxes NOT paid for by religious groups who don't pay their fair share, have never relied on welfare, paid back all of my student loans, with interest, raised happy, fulfilled and accomplished children (who are also atheists), and I vote in all elections.
So far, I have been much happier as an atheist and a freethinker than I ever was as a Christian, and it's the same for every atheist I know, so I'm not sure who you're looking at as examples of being less happy.
