athletes become more aware of their bodies, they also build inner resilience to
handle stress, which unlocks elevated performance levels.
It becomes complicated because each
athlete has his or her own tolerance for the amount of training «
stress» that can be
handled healthfully, depending on the
athlete's physical fitness and the level of other stressors in daily life.
High school
athletes will have similar
stresses, usually not as intense but normally more over dramatized do to being younger and not having a clue how to
handle it.
However, the lower oxidative
stress, lactate load and inflammation provided by this metabolic state reduce the negative impacts of training and competition so the
athlete can
handle a significantly higher volume of training / competition and adapt faster to the
stress response provided by the training load.
