Richard Coss, a psychology professor and expert on the evolution of predator — prey relationships at the University of California, Davis, studied the behavior of 185 people who were
attacked by mountain lions (aka pumas or
cougars) between 1890 and 2000 in the U.S. and Canada.
The courts did not buy the homeowners» argument that Animal Entertainment Productions, the venture the homeowners used to make some money
by renting out their «tigers, bears, lions,
cougars, monkeys, and alligators» for various purposes, had wound down and the home zoo was, at the time of the
attack, «more akin to a hobby.»
