I don't impose my Christian beliefs on anyone but have consistently been

atheist, too, and I find displays of religion as a response to an
attack motivated
by religion somewhat ironic (though not quite as perverse as stepping over 2500 dead bodies to find a 90 - degree angle and then hoisting it up and saying «see, god is here!)
It is precisely this outdated theology of natural or «intelligent» design that is the target of the simplistic
attacks on religion

attacked during street fairs for just having a booth, they only let people come to them, but Christians get outraged and smash their booth and get hauled away
by the cops, usually shouting profanity in the name of God lol!

attack head - on, so what does that leave them?

atheists feel almost assaulted
by the the
attacks of reason that one must endure to continually support a faith.
