enemies with a mixture of strong, weak, and super
attacks.
It showed exciting flight sequences, with
enemies and
attacks that needed to be dodged and fired
upon with full, free movement.
Thus, the game rarely feels boring even as you slog through wave
upon wave of
enemies while performing the same
attacks again and again.
As you chain
attacks together, you also fill your Fury Gauge which can be unleashed
upon the
enemy for a character - specific ultimate
attack, perform a massive healing technique or create a shield to lower damage taken.
A lot of the exploration and combat in the game boils down to trial and error; you may instantly get hammered by that hulking giant clad in armour
upon your first meeting or be caught off guard by a booby trapped chest but once you memorise the locations of certain traps and the
attack patterns of the
enemies you'll soon be traipsing through the areas like the true champion you are, smiting all who dare cross your path.
One might have you defeating 10
enemies in two turns or less, another will ask you to manipulate a charging
enemy that,
upon being
attacked, can bounce you onto an island that's otherwise unreachable.
Using the shovel to battle
enemies is fun, with combat being position - based; your foes can knock you back into hazardous obstacles or bottomless pits, making timing your
attacks crucial to progress if you can't simply dodge them or need the additional treasure they drop
upon defeat.
Upon gaining enough» ˜energy» players can trigger their specials to do a devastating
attack, Titans for example can shockwave groups of
enemies, exploding them or put up an impenetrable shield.
Upon doing this, the settlement where you currently reside gets
attacked, but you soon learn that the COG is not your true
enemy here.
Veteran difficulty imposes a maximum of 10 continues, despite a further substantial increase in the quantity of
enemies, their movement speed and even more humans to save; master difficulty enforces a maximum of 5 continues, while significantly further increasing the amount of
enemies, their speed of movement and
enemies fire revenge bullets
upon being defeated, although the player moves and
attacks slightly faster.
And speaking of berries, Pac - Man will have a variety of power ups to rely on, berries of all types that give him new powers, but can be lost
upon getting
attacked by
enemies.
It's a great little system really as it impresses the notion of proper form
upon the player when it comes defending against
enemy attacks.
Attacks can come in many forms as waves of
enemies wash
upon your toy box defenses.
Every character has their own move list and is capable of
attacking different areas and inflicting various ailments
upon the
enemy.
Upon hearing this, I was immediately turned off as I've never found fun in hitting an automated
attack button, watching the action and hoping the
enemy's HP bottomed out before mine did.

There's also a fun little Mark Combat System where the more you hit an
enemy the more your
attacks have an effect on them, opening up the possibility of inflicting massive amounts of damage
upon your opponents at some pivotal moments during combat (if you play your cards right and plan properly, that is).
For example, in one turn your character could dash into an
enemy for a melee
attack, team jump off an ally to a safe location, and then fire
upon another
enemy.
You have multiple avenues of
attacking these
enemies, too, as your characters can choose to
attack solo or with a united assault (a special ability that draws
upon a combination of skills from each character that deals massive damage).
As
enemies can block, you too can also block incoming
attacks —
upon facing an
enemy, an icon appears at the bottom of your screen which slowly fills with a yellow circular bar.
Lastly are the floating circle
enemies that can block your
attack from any diagonal position depending
upon where it moves its shields (they are opposite each other).
When happening
upon a group of
enemies, if they do not notice you, you are free to sneak around or try to land a surprise
attack in order to begin combat.
Rather than shielding yourself and parrying
enemies to create an opening (one shield can be found in the game, but it will break
upon first hit — an in - joke to Souls fans), speed and agility are required to dodge
enemies and
attack them at their weakest points.
Then there's «Version 1.1», which implements the same graphical upgrades as 360 Mode alongside several other changes, the foremost being the ability to directly control your familiar's movement: you'll be making frequent use of this, as
enemies and bosses now assail you with extra «suicide bullets»
upon being
attacked (in previous versions of the game this would only happen on high difficulty settings), and only your helper can absorb them to prevent you from being completely overwhelmed.
The

upon Dunkirk and the beaches.
