Other ongoing research projects focus on assessing orthopedic surgeon
attitudes about ethical issues, patient selection for elective surgery, and the ethics of concurrent surgery.
Thus on both the social and the individual levels the proposal of a simple transfer of the
ethical attitudes of science appears to underestimate the complexity of
ethical issues, to idealize the purity of the scientist's motives, and to provide no adequate dynamic for concern
about the welfare of others.
