May 10, 2016 — «State Sen. Joseph A. Griffo, R - Rome, is joining the fight to make the state pick up the tab for district
attorney salary raises and indigent defense costs.
The first bill, S. 7417, would direct the state to provide approximately $ 1.6 million in financial assistance to counties to cover the costs of district
attorney salary raises.»

raise in the DA's office — $ 29,000 — went to Assistant District
Attorney Kara Ruisi, whose
salary increased to $ 115,000.
The 33 percent
raises for Chief of Staff Ron Kluesener, Town
Attorney Joseph Wilson and Town Comptroller Victoria Marotta increase their base
salaries from $ 109,084 to $ 145,000, according to the Jan. 2 resolution granting the pay hikes.
The
raises, which averaged more than $ 8,000 or 11 percent, went to employees including 18 law assistants who each received
salary hikes of $ 7,000 after passing the bar exam and being promoted to assistant district
attorney.

raise would make the county executive's
