Whatever you think of the finer details of the film, ultimately Mary Magdalene
leaves audiences with a crystal - clear
picture of who Christ was, what he did and why he came.
While he didn't directly address his own sexual attractions to the Love Won Out
audience, he
left little doubt that it had changed when he ended his testimony with
pictures of his wedding and his two beautiful children.
Over its short, furious course, the
picture violates so many strong taboos — cannibalism, incest, necrophilia — that it
leaves audiences giddy and hysterical.
The second movie in an evolving franchise lifts the plots from the three Indiana Jones
pictures and recycles them into a two - hour, dumbed - down video game plot that will
leave audience members asking «Why bother?»
The DVD's pitiful two bonus features will
leave much to be desired for that format's
audience, while the Blu - ray's
picture - in -
picture commentary, deleted scenes, and Easter egg go a ways to meet expectations on that format.
Oscar opened the Best
Picture list to ten nominees last year, not out of guilt for
leaving out so many worthy nominees, mind you, but as a way to make sure the big
audience - pleasing Hollywood movies that Middle America (in other words, the Oscar telecast
audience) has actually seen would find a place in the show.
Deliberately paced, the drama may be unhurried and somewhat supine for its 89 - minute running time, but the
