I started using ACX to put my books
into audio a couple of years ago, and have just finished «proof - listening» to the draft of my 10th, with
narration on # 11 scheduled to start next month.
While Kindles used to pack
audio jacks and some nice
narration features that'd turn your book
into an
audio version, these features were dismissed some years ago.
For this study we observed families reading both basic e-books, which are essentially print books put
into a digital format with minimal features like highlighting text and
audio narration, and enhanced e-books, which feature more interactive multimedia options like games, videos and interactive animations.
Sadly the developers also use this opportunity to drop
audio logs
into the mix, from which you'll glean insight
into what has been going on without the unreliable
narration of T.O.M.. It's a little bit of a shame to see
audio logs get used since they feel awkward within the story, but it's understandable I suppose.
It was recently announced that these stories will have
audio narrations available, which may be attractive to anyone more
into podcasts than longform articles.
