The author bio on your social media, blog or website is one of the most important things you'll ever write, so you want to put some thought into it.
The author bio on the back cover of your book needs to cover a lot of ground in a few words: publishing credits, writing degrees earned, perhaps something fun about yourself.
No social media accounts, no author website,
no author bio on the publisher's website or on other websites (Goodreads, Amazon, etc.).
Remember, you might need to tweak
your author bio on occasion to meet the needs of a given market.
For
the author bio on the back of the book, that's still sales copy, but you don't need keywords as much.
A strong
author bio on your blog, social media, and all those online forums and associations can encourage readers to buy your book without being a sales pitch for the book.
The author bio on the book jacket simply reads: «Steve Toltz resides in Sydney, Australia.
