I like to support my
author friends and it's been a while
since I did that.
Since many of you have asked me the same question, I thought I'd spend a moment today discussing it and how it affects you, my indie
author friends, how you too can submit your book to Booktrope, and maybe even be a part of my new Gravity imprint (cool, right?)
I haven't seen friendships strained for asking, especially
since successful
authors know very well what it takes to get a book published and it sounds like this
friend admires her work to begin with.
Since I know so many of our
author friends are short on time, when you grab those precious 30 minutes for book promotion, you want the biggest bang for your buck, right?
These are new
friends that I've made
since I've been a full - time
author and I think this is so important to people.
I also talk to fellow
authors about making sure they don't link Amazon to their facebook or twitter accounts, as the Amazon crawlers are making those connections in their database, and removing reviews that might be legitimate, but
since that person is your «
friend» on your
author facebook profile, Amazon sees it as a non-legitimate review.
We are advised not to «pay» for reviews
since it appears unethical, don't swap reviews with other
authors because it's unethical, don't ask
friends, etc..
I have made some new amazing
friends since I became a published
author, many of whom have inspired me, taught me, and encouraged me.
Book parties are expensive and
since they rarely generate sales, it is now almost always left up to the
author or the
author's generous
friends to foot the bill, even for fairly high - profile
authors.
Fueling that approach is the fact that
since I became published, my circle of
author friends and acquaintances has continued to expand.
In the two years
since then, Duolit has evolved, and it's all due to our awesome group of indie
