Yes, it's another Monday Mailbag in which we gather questions from my email inbox, from the comments on the
blog, and from strange
calls in the middle
of the night from distraught
authors wondering just where they went wrong.
Having a
blog isn't about selling on other platforms, although it's good for that, it's all about branding yourself, building what I like to
call your «
author brand» and communicating with and creating a base
of fans.
Q: Your website is
called The Book Designer, and yet you
blog about electronic publishing, in which
authors / publishers have less and less to say about the design
of their books, because the target delivery device is not defined.
I was alerted to the development
of what are being
called «electronic
author cooperatives» by ghostwriter and novelist Andrew Crofts, who writes about them on his

But there is hope, compliments
of Jane Friedman, the WD article's
author (I prefer to
call it a reality check): «If your immediate thought upon reading this
