It might not have the flashiest of designs, but they've done more than 1,100
successful tours over 5 years, and they have many
successful authors using their services.
I know many
authors who have had
successful book
tours which they have set up for themselves.
But the
author is very upfront about what it takes for a blog
tour to be
successful — you either need to outsource it (which can be expensive) or do it yourself (which will be time - consuming).

There are
successful self - published
authors who DO NOT blog / twitter / facebook or do book blog
tours (this is counter-intuitive to the mantra that social networking is vitally important to indie
authors, but it is still true; the appeal of the book and the power of Amazon's marketing machine have a lot of influence on sales).
Although this type of promotion is a convenient option for today's
authors as they market their books, don't be fooled: a great deal of thoughtful planning goes into planning a
successful virtual book
tour.
Second, it depends on the
author — blog
tours will be most
successful if the
author has at least some time to participate in either an ongoing discussion or at least to contribute in some fashion (for example, by providing a Q&A).
I have tried several virtual book
tour coordinators and have even set up a book
tour on my own, but none of them were as
successful as my
