But I do not intend to attack individuals on their own journey despite my disagreement with their views on support for the collective and its
perceived authority in their lives.
With specific reference to the subject of the present statement, we are not agreed on the exercise of teaching
authority in the life of Christ's Church.

I certainly understand why it is important for Christians to perhaps recognize a
primary authority in their lives, (for Roman Catholics, it is the Church; for evangelicals, it is the Bible), but it seems to me that if the ULTIMATE authority is God Himself, and God uses all of these things (Scripture, tradition, reason, and experience) to communicate to us, the least we could do is acknowledge our dependency on all of them.
I don't object to God and the Bible being the
ultimate authority in my life, just the incorporated church that has changed the facts about both of the above.
They take offense to my being «judgmental» — even though a modest restoration of
traditional authority in their lives would help them be less atomized, disoriented, and vulnerable.
We understand that not everyone will believe what we believe, but as Christians who view the Bible as our
highest authority in life, we don't write the mail, we simply deliver it.
I'll tell you why: because «The Bible» is
the authority in the lives of those who defend it; just as the Quran is supposed to represent Islam.
They have a few followers, dissenters, also,... many who have had positions of
authority in their lives and many of these people plan to make the Catholic Church into a protestant one....
