authors I know and my own sales which were never tapped by AAP), I find eBook sales continue to rise sharply.
For inspiration with your own site, look at famous
author pages (like Gillian Flynn & Stephen King) and
just observe what the user
experience is like for you.
For this reason, many
authors wisely choose to hire a professional book cover designer for their valuable industry
experience, their artistic talent, or
just to avoid the headache of learning how to design book covers themselves.
I would add on the side of traditional publishing that 1) It is easier to get national publicity because producers give more weight to a traditionally published book, particularly from a larger house (though some self - published
authors certainly do get national publicity as well — it's
just harder, in general and 2) a traditional publisher is generally going to bring a great deal of
experience to the table — from improving the cover or title to layout and design.
Other designers,
authors, and publishing houses who see this in person are
just going to think that I didn't know what I was doing, while some may know exactly what happened because they've
experienced the same thing.
Whether Kindle Serials
authors will have similar
experiences is
just one of the plots that make the Third Layer of Publishing a story that I will be very interested to follow in the months and years ahead.
