It seeks to combine the advantages of a conventional manual shift with the qualities of a modern automatic transmission by providing different clutches for odd and even speed selector gears.

A Sports Response button on the new steering wheel - mounted driving mode selector primes the twin - turbo 3.8 - liter engine and 7 - speed automatic transmission for big overtakes, ensuring the right gear is engaged for maximum forward thrust.

All engines drive through an 8 - speed Quickshift automatic transmission with a manual gear selector on the center console and finger paddles on the steering wheel.

At any time, the driver can also notch the gear selector into «S» to hasten automatic shifts or pull a paddle on the steering wheel to engage manual shift mode.

Both engines receive a boost in power — 184 hp for the four - cylinder, and 295 hp for the V6 — and are mated to a seemingly crazy nine - speed automatic gearbox with a dial - type electronic gear selector.
