Elite Fixtures has compiled a list of mining costs throughout the world, using averaged data from three mining rigs and
average electricity rates in 115 countries as of January 2018.
Crescent Electric studied mining costs based on the wattage used by the three most popular mining rigs (the AntMiner S9, the AntMinerS7 and the Avalon 6) and the days each takes to mine a coin (which range from 452 to over 1,800 depending on the machine), then multiplied by
the average electricity rate in each state.
Calculations assume a Hot / Cold cycle in a typical washing machine, and include water plus electricity for washer, electric dryer and electric water heater, with incoming water temperature of 77F (25C),
an average electricity rate / KWh of $ 0.15, plus price of water of $ 5.50 / 1000 gallons.
In March 2011 the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) website shows
the average electricity rate was 6.84 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) and on May 1, 2016 it had increased to 11.1 cents / kWh.
If we go back to 2011 (see below),
the average electricity rate in New York City has increased by just 2.72 %, which is well below inflation (a little over 1 % annually).
