avoid processed food where possible.

Needless to say, you should try to stick with a healthy diet plan,
where you stick to fruits, vegetables and healthy snack, while
avoiding processed or junk
foods such as hot dogs, hamburgers, luncheon meat, sausages, and smoked seafood.

avoid Chinese -
processed chicken are out of luck, since companies will not be required to label
where the
processing took place if the
processed chicken is further
processed in this country — in other words, added to
foods like soups, frozen entrees or chicken nuggets.
The occasional treat is no problem, but
where possible try to
avoid deep fried
foods, sugary treats, white bread, junk
foods and any
processed or packet
foods.
To start with, I always recommend including fresh, whole
foods (organic and local
where possible) and
avoiding anything
processed (from a packet or a bottle — essentially, anything with an ingredient list).
No matter
where I am, I religiously
avoid pre-packaged,
processed, refined
food items and anything containing gluten, wheat or sugar.
The tragic reality, of course, is that 95 percent of the
food that most Americans eat is
processed — and
processed food is
where all this trans fat lies — and the cyclic aldehydes, and the acrylamide, and the genetically engineered ingredients, and the pesticides... So, if you want to protect your health, particularly your heart, brain, and gut, you need to
avoid as many
processed foods (including most restaurant
food) as much as possible, and start cooking at home, using fresh, whole, unadulterated ingredients.
