Through my continual searching of the Christian faith, I quickly learned I could no longer accept Christianity merely as a tool for
avoiding eternal damnation.
His point, I believe, was that IF these things truly did cause one to be thrown into hell then we should all go around cutting off our limbs to
avoid eternal damnation.
The essential gist of things is that you're descended from some ancient god whose entire bloodline has been banished from Olympus, and after having died in some horrific way you find yourself in the Maze of Hades, given a chance to
avoid a eternal damnation and reclaim your place among the gods.
