Since you can use points from Ritz - Carlton,
Marriott and SPG to book
award nights at any of their properties, there are many cards available to accrue points via sign - up
bonuses.
On an annual basis, the Club Carlson card gives you 40,000
bonus points (which could be redeemed for multiple free nights), while the
Marriott card only
awards one free night each year.
In addition, all members can earn 10 % more
award miles when points are used for a
Marriott Rewards Travel Package which includes MileagePlus
award miles and hotel accommodations - a
bonus of up to 12,000 MileagePlus
award miles.

Marriott has a sliding scale, and I've used the largest
bonus.
While I wouldn't use the
Marriott Premier Rewards card for any spending after the
bonus, it does come with an annual free night
award.

award miles, or any other miles earned or otherwise received through the Points and Miles Offerings or any other conversion of
Marriott Rewards points through the RewardsPlus Program (or through any other non-flight activity) do not count toward qualification for Premier status in the MileagePlus Program, unless expressly stated otherwise.

The
Marriott Rewards
award chart is hard to defend, but I don't think it really is that out of the ordinary, especially when you consider that top tier Platinum members earn a 50 %
bonus on points for stays, and if you pay for your stay with your
Marriott Rewards Premier card, you get another 5 points per dollar.

Why it's worth it: While the personal Starwood Amex isn't currently offering an elevated
bonus, it's still a great card, especially since Starpoints are my highest - rated loyalty currency and there are so many ways to redeem them, from transferring to airline partners to SPG Moments to Starwood and
Marriott award stays.
Other Chase cards you can apply for at the same time include the Chase British Airways (50K signup points, 1.25 Avios per dollar, and an annual companion
