You already know I'm not too disappointed about
the award chart changes.
AWARD CHART CHANGES PART DEUX... Following United's move last week to drastically increase mileage prices, Delta has taken the knife to its SkyMiles chart yet again.
@autolycus — I expect that we will get SOME notice even though Delta has a history of making
award chart changes without notice (and falsely claiming they were legally precluded from giving notice) so I wouldn't make redemptions now personally but i would be prepared to do so sooner than later.
Yesterday my analysis of
the award chart changes was focused on redemptions originating and terminating in the US.

American announced
the award chart changes last fall, but many AAdvantage members might have overlooked them since the bigger part of that announcement concerned the program's coming transformation from a mileage - based to a spending - based earning system starting later this year.
Once again the savings are anything but spectacular but, if you're about to book one of these awards, why not wait until after

Award chart changes occur every so often.
I've already gone over the major devaluations that will happen, I've discussed
the award chart changes, I've shown how the new earning rates will affect top - tier AAdvantage members quite badly and I've called out American Airlines for announcing things without thinking things through or without having all the answers to inevitable questions... but that's really just me letting off steam and, hopefully, providing readers with a few facts here and there as well.
If you were thinking, like me, that it might still be worth sticking around with United after the recent
award chart changes, think again because now you might very well lose your status in addition to affordable awards on Star Alliance partners.

I value American Airlines AAdvantage miles at around 1.8 cents / mile so logic would dictate that I declare this offer to be a bad idea — and for a lot of people it is — but, if you live in Europe (or if you're in a position to start your travel in Europe), there's a way to get some great value out this sale — as long as you're able to book before 22 March 2016 (when the AAdvantage
award charts change).
