Tantra is the practice
of being in a full relationship with life — a living connection with what is: opening yourself — your senses, your
awareness, your
emotions — to the
present moment and experiencing reality from that place
of openness.
Much has been written about the positive benefits
of mindfulness — the idea that you bring an
awareness to the
present moment and identify
emotions as you feel them.
In MPS, we are defining mindfulness as the «purposeful
awareness of our thoughts,
emotions, physical feelings, and environment in the
present moment, without judgment.»
With this powerful workbook, you'll learn effective skills based in mindfulness and positive psychology to help you manage difficult
emotions, gain distance from negative thoughts, and enhance your
awareness of the
present moment.
Mindfulness is not a uni-dimensional construct; it consists
of several behavioral tendencies which include observing (attending to internal and external stimuli, such as
emotions, sights, or sounds), describing (having the ability to label, define, and express thoughts toward
present -
moment experiences), acting with
awareness (focusing attention on only one thing in the
present -
moment, whether this is a feeling, a sight, a sound, or any other internal or external cue), and withholding judgment (abstaining from evaluating the
present moment, particularly in a negative fashion).
The following six core processes are applied to reach this goal: 1)
present moment awareness, 2) acceptance
of difficult
emotions or thoughts, 3) decrease in believability
of (or attachment to) thoughts, 4) perspective - taking, 5) identification
of values, and 6) committed action in service
of values.
