When one enterprising «thief» steals two bags of groceries to feed his starving children and bedridden grandmother, he is shot in the back running
away by a policeman, Philip Krauss (Will Poulter).

While the movie as a whole didn't blow me
away, two elements did: Ben Foster is simply terrific as the
policeman, stealing every scene he's in, and the original score
by Daniel Hart is one of my favorite of the year.
While Traffic is essentially about the war on drugs in America, the film's starting point is the almost - exclusively south - of - the - border (and nearly all Spanish language) story of Javier Rodriguez (Benicio Del Toro, doing
away with his annoying tics and delivering a career performance), an average Tijuana State
policeman who is given the opportunity for greater prestige
by working for General Salazar's (Tomas Milian) efforts against the drug cartels.
