Other than the boozing scene, Miyasaki clearly realizes the importance of teaching lessons to his young audience, as the old «Don't judge a
book by its
cover» adage is a central theme, as well as several scenes that depict the
awful devastation that mankind is leaving on our oceans.
St Aubyn's
books about that time are infused with his biting humor, and the creators allow Cumberbatch free rein to explore that range of emotions, and he's absolutely essential casting to not only pull off the role but to let viewers know it's OK to enjoy the often hilarious, drugged - out debauchery, so long as they can stomach the telling of the whole story (told in flashbacks, with Sebastian Maltz as a young Patrick, plus voice overs from grown - up Patrick and a separate, archly British narrator) and to understand his bad behavior is a bandage
covering an
awful wound.
The
book was a flaming mess; the
cover was
awful and nearly every chapter was rife with mistakes.
Those
covers sold an
awful lot of
books though.
Self - publishing has opened the gates and it's true that a lot of low quality
books have hit the market — poorly written manuscripts packed with typos and just plain bad storytelling (and
awful covers).
To do that, I strongly recommend having it professionally edited (an editor will pick up glitches even the most talented writer will miss) and the
cover professionally designed (self - published
books with Photoshop
covers generally look
awful).
I found a
book that I loved, but it had an
awful cover.
The Witcher
book series is particularly
awful in this regard, they just took some random piece of unrelated promotional artwork from the game and slapped it on the
cover.
Books that are poorly edited, have
awful covers, and that suffer from mediocre content may still abound, but they are not difficult to spot.
Basically, Terra knew exactly what she wanted from a
book cover, and told her
cover designer what to do... the end result was
awful; so she found another
book cover designer and tried to start over with the same idea — but the new designer said «no.»
I've been agonizing over the
awful cover on my second
book and the overall look of the series but not actually doing anything about it.
For instance, if you check
book cover designs from a century ago, you'll see they were quite
awful in comparison with today's standards.
Warning: when you first upload your beautiful
book cover onto Amazon and view it as a thumbnail — it may look like
awful; bent and crooked.
Otherwise, you can lose out to a truly
awful book that happens to have a catchy
cover.
But an
awful cover won't help sell a great
book.

While it's certainly true that indie authors yearn for respect, the plethora of unedited, badly written
books with god -
awful covers still taint the category.
I say that not just because that's what I do for a living, but because I've seen some really
awful covers on indie published
books.
Read the
book «Merchants of Doubt», its says an
awful lot regarding the political system, the media system (equal airtime to both sides of the argument) and
covers all that has hapenned when scientific findings upset the capatalist system which would mean one of several things inlcuding job losses, loss of revenue, loss of influence and hence foundations are founded and odd but politically charged arguments are put forward that have worked for many a year.
