In the meantime, we get some nice
awkward pauses, a few callbacks to and expansions of the recurring jokes, and some random moments, like the reverend's
strange Scripture passage, the deceased dressed as a Roman centurion in a photo, and Howard's horribly inappropriate
conversation with the widow.
Bringing toys for his kids and admiring Shell's hand - me - down clothes, Shell and Hugh's
conversations are endearingly
awkward, a
strange non-romance that could easily make up a whole film on its own. That's where Graham's power lies: building believable relationships
with a natural cast.
