Another issue
with baby buckets — and other similar devices (cribs, swings etc.) where some parents leave their babies for hours on end — is «bucket head» where the back of the head flattens out and the kid then has to wear a helmet to correct it.
If anyone else with a car seat screamer reads this, some babies become much happier if you use a convertible car seat instead of
the baby bucket.
I would highly recommend that most parents buy a convertible car seat right from the beginning and skip
the baby bucket all together.
So cut some new, exhausted moms a teeny bit of slack Sometimes that
baby bucket can be a sanity saver, and you can use them sensibly.
But, as long as parents remember that the «
baby bucket» is first and formost a car seat (to be used in the care 99 % of the time) and not a baby carrier they have their place.
I've heard other folks call them «containers» or «
baby buckets».
Depending on how old you are, your parents may have turned you around as soon as you seemed to outgrow
your baby bucket.
It wasn't until I went to take him out of
his baby bucket at home that I realized I'd never fastened the buckles!
I have tendonitis in my wrists, so the thought of using
those baby bucket things was excruciating.
