If you live
in a metropolitan area, you probably have several
hospitals to choose
from; but if you live
in a rural area, you probably have fewer options but still need to verify that your closest medical center is prepared for your
babies» delivery.
It's important to note that there is no one standard shared risk program — each fertility center establishes their own guidelines for how much they charge, what is included, how much is refunded, and
in what cases refunds are issued (e.g., some fertility centers will refund your money if you don't take a
baby home
from the
hospital, while others will only refund your money prior to the twelfth week of pregnancy, or other various terms).
If you've had a
baby, and weren't lucky enough to wear your pre-pregnancy jeans home
from the
hospital, you know about that post-
baby belly issue - where you can't suck it
in or make it appear flat no matter what you do.
Ultimately, our goal is to support a mother
in whatever decision she makes when it comes to nursing her
baby and this initiative specifically is designed to support a mother who decides that she wants to breast - feed by asking participating
hospital staff to respect her and refrain
from automatically supplementing her
baby with formula (unless it becomes medically necessary or the mother changes her mind).
