Work to make sure that your
baby or toddler is napping at strategic times through - out the day, and that those naps are long enough to be restorative but not so long as to interfere with night
sleep.
If your
baby or toddler is really fighting going to
sleep, stop for a second to think about how long they
slept the previous night, how many naps they've had that day and for how long, and also think about how active they have been so far that day, it may simply be they are just not tired enough to show signs of needing
sleep at the moment, so do something else calmly and quietly with your
baby.
Developmentally, a wake - up time of 6:00
or later is reasonable for most
babies and
toddlers, provided they are getting adequate nighttime and naptime
sleep.
My wakings now alternate between hearing the
baby waking, crying briefly and my husband shushing her back to
sleep, and my
