Hi I'm in the middle
of doing my whole dining room set in mineral paint I used raw silk (antique white) so far chais and bottom
of table are done need to do china cabinet curio cabinet and a
side bar the top

of sidebar will be stained but the chairs I used black wax to enhance the flowers on

As a
side note, you can see in that old photo above that I had the same antique stained glass WAY
BACK THEN (on the other
side of that same
kitchen with the blue and white curtains!)
The reason I ask is we have two bathrooms with same style
back &
side splashes
of laminate sheets edged in «ageless» aluminum framing, plus 16 ″ walls
of the avocado stuff in the
kitchen (major remodel in next 1 - 2 yrs.
There is only the one small
kitchen window on the
back side of the house to let light into our main living areas, so adding the French door at the
back completely changes the space.
The windows on the
back side of the house were heavily tinted, so I wasn't able to snap any photos
of the
Kitchen, Living Room or Dining Room (boo).

Our current
kitchen is tucked into the small
back corner
of the house, with the sink below a small window overlooking our neighbor's new house and our
side - yard, which is currently getting a fun makeover

You meant the cabinets on the
back wall
of the
kitchen would be painted white, not the other
side of the island.
New
siding, new light fixtures, new door, new shutters, new paint scheme, new portico, etc However, we can't fix our
side porch off the
kitchen and our old deck is coming down (not safe) and since the next phase will include a sunroom and screened in deck across the
back of our home, we are basically just putting a landing with stairs to the ground to replace the deck as it sits so high off the ground.
I looked at your plan and your
back door into the
kitchen is exactly like mine, even with a bank
of pantry cabinets to the other
side of door; L shapped counter and I have an island.
I was thinking using beadboard wallpaper on the
back /
side of my
kitchen peninsula, but I'm not so sure now that you mention potential dings — it's a high traffic area!
The features
of this dining room lean toward the elegant
side, but casual accents and details, as well as its just - off - the
kitchen location, create a laid -
back tone overall.
To remedy this, the Solomons enlisted the help
of Toronto architect Drew Mandel to extend the
back of their house by 15 feet on one
side and three feet on the other to accommodate a large, open
kitchen and family room.
Using my divide and conquer philosophy I decided to focus on the
side yard (part
of the
back yard) which was the first thing you saw when you went out the
kitchen door.
What's great about it now is the sense
of space created by the lack
of chair
backs and since this table is in my big open
kitchen, you can easily sit on the bench with your
back to the table and be part
of what's going on in the other
side of the room.
