I have said before yesterdays game that we need a top class forward and dm to challenge having watched yesterdays diabolical performance i feel we need to ad a out and out winger to the team playing ozil or carzola out left is not working pedro would have been a fantastic signing but looks like he is going to man u. It's difficult to blame Ozil for the difficulties he's faced at Arsenal without looking at the big picture... like the fans, he too was lied to by Wenger... there is no doubt in my mind that he was told by Wenger that he was trying desperately to recreate our earlier success by acquiring players that fit the system he ran when Henry was in his prime... as we know this hasn't happened... in order for Ozl to flourish he needs some speed up front, forwards that can make intelligent runs, a boss in the midfield to compensate for his obvious defensive liabilities and defenders who can transition from defence to offence quickly and efficiently... much like he had in Real and with the German National squad... unfortunately he ended up on a squad that has a striker who plays with his back to goal, very few intelligent runs into the box, minus Sanchez, no one to take pressure off him in the midfield, once Cazorla was injured, average defensive midfielders around him, which simply highlighted his lacking defensive qualities and defenders who lack the necessary cutting edge when it comes to transitional passing... instead of blaming Ozil, which is simply too easy, especially considering his mopey disposition, we should be asking ownership and / or Wenger why they brought him in if they didn't intend on doing what was necessary to get the best from him... can you imagine Ozil playing with the likes of Henry, Viera, Petit and Pires, it would be incredibly to watch and even more difficult to stop... so the only thing different between his experiences in Real and with the German team versus his time at Arsenal are the players around him and we all know who is in charge of making those decisions, the Grinch who stole soccer

Yes he is right, but comcerning the weekend game i do nt just knw why am so confident for the game.firstly liverpool can never cope with our attack, and secondly if we defend from the front like we did from the last two games the defence will be under less pressure.Evne flamini weakness was well covered bcos we defended as a team and attacked as a team.Lastly, we have chambers back for the game and hopefully the Ox and Walcott so no need to raise any fears.Infact liverpool, s attack depends too much on sterling imho, and i think we can keep him quiet, he is not even a good finisher anyway.I strongly believe we will come out on top with hard work and commitment minus complascency

In the midfield, (including RWB & LWB) we have a whole bunch of tweeners... none offer the full package, none make sense in our manager's current favourite formation, except for Sead on the left and Ox on the right, and all of them have never shown any consistency for more than a heartbeat... Sead, who I'm including in this category because of our present formation, looks like a positive addition, minus his occasional brain farts, but I would rather see what he could do in a back 4 before making my mind up... Ox, who has never played better, which isn't saying much considering his largely underwhelming play in previous seasons, seems to have found a home in this new formation; unfortunately, can we really expect this oft - injured player to handle the taxing duties that come with said position over the long haul, not to mention, it looks like he has no intention of staying... Ramsey has relied on the empathy that stems from his gruesome injury years ago and the excitement that was generated a few years back when he finally seemed to put in altogether, but on the whole he has been a big disappointment (neither he nor the Ox have scored enough to warrant a regular spot)... Wiltshire should be put on a weekly contract then played until he suffers his first injury, if and when that occurs he should be shipped - out and no one should very be allowed to say his name on club grounds ever again... Elnehy & Coq are average players who couldn't make any of the top 7 teams currently in the EPL... both have showed some great energy on the pitch, but neither are top quality and no good team can afford to have that many average players on their bench playing the same position, especially with Coq's injury history / discipline concerns and Elheny's headless chicken tendencies... as for Xhaka, his tenure here so far has been incredibly underwhelming... we know he has some skills to provide the long ball but his defensive work is piss poor and he gives the ball away too cheaply and far too often... finally, the enigma himself, Ozil, so much skill with his left foot but his presence has been more frustrating than uplifting... in many respects his failure has been directly related to the failure of this club to provide him with the necessary players up front, minus Sanchez of course, and unless something drastic happens very soon his legacy will be largely a negative one (much like Wenger's)
Having Ozil of all people play as a winger especially in front of either full back in Debuchy or Monreal is suicide because he will not track back whatsoever and in a formation like that which is designed to thrive on position you need a work horse on the wings for whichever full back you plan to have overloading the wing AS WELL AS a positionally astute defensive midfielder to come across and provide cover.
I say, we don't have a holding mid, therefore lets just revert back to 4 -2-3-1 with wilshere and ramsey in the double pivot, sanchez and santi on the flanks and ozil in the middle, and lastly, welbeck on the front, we also need to give bellerin some chances now to let him develop, chambers is more like a CB
Walcott started retracing his steps and return to the wings after insisting he wants to play center forward but the problem he has is that his skills are best suited for a winger role when we play 4 -3-3 but he will be better as center forward when we play 3 at the back or as part of a front 2 like Aguero / Jesus are doing at the moment.
Lucas Perez may get another opportunity up front like he did in the EFL CUP against Nottingham Forest, although Wenger may not want to move Alexis back out to the wing given he is now hitting the heights as a striker.
In other news, our team seems to be rounding nicely into form, with a productive off - season and several new additions already settling in, there seems to be a renewed sense of confidence in the air... our well - oiled machine has conducted business again early this year, so we can just sit back, kick our feet up and watch all those other suckers scramble to make panic moves in the 11th hour... of course, we need to tie up a few loose ends but our team of savvy negotiators, under the tutelage of our faithful leader, will perform their usual magic with ample time to spare... I have to laugh when I look around the soccer world and see all those teams look upon us with envy and scorn as they struggle to mimic our seemingly infallible business model... thank goodness the powers that be had the foresight and fortitude to resist the temptations of the modern football era... instead of listening to all the experts and simply taking the easy way out by making the necessary improvements on the field and in the front office, we chose the path never traveled... we are truly pioneers in our field... sometimes you just have to have faith in the people that have always conducted themselves in a respectful and honest fashion... most fans aren't so fortunate, they will never know what it's like to follow a team that treats everyone in and around the club as if they were an extended member of the family... all for one I say... so when you wake up this morning, please try not to gloat when you see rival fans pacing back and forth waiting for their respective teams to pull the usual panic buys, just say nothing and be thankful that it isn't you... like I've always said, this is why you stay the course... this is when the real benefits of having someone in charge for over 2 decades really pays off... have a great day fellow Gunners
We still do not have the DM yet, because Wenger wants to sign the player he wants, not the player the fan want — DM is such important position nowadays (not just a shield in front of the back 4, but also link defence and attack) we can not just sign anybody — average like Tiote, Wanyama won't make us the world beater or genuine title challenger.
Ok, i will admit not being sure who to play in the two midfield position i have Xhaka and Ramsey playing in... There is Carzola — whose experience in such a match would be a plus, There is Elneny who is like a bee — so busy pulling strings, there is Coquelin — whose composure ensures the back four are relatively covered... After fielding an all fire front 4, it would be prudent to field the most disciplined anchorage and that would be Carzola and Coquelin....

Flamini isnt the best player we have but he is the only midfielder disciplined enough (for the most part) to stay back in front of our backline which allows the likes of ozil, cazorla and ramsey to commit numbers to the attack without worrying about leaving the back exposed.
playing with g - rod up front is like sticking to fingers up to traditional arsenal play of fast movement one twos and pass and move football this is very unlike wenger to make such a major shift away front his normal trends of style of play big man up front with no pace just isn't the wenger way really he needs to go back to the past really to answer the current problem i have noticed all the other top 4 teams are more wenger they are (wengerites to coin a phrase) than wenger himself playing with a big srtong pacey team like we use to have they all copied wengers blueprint and left him behind somewhere along the line and he altered his and its not been the same since do nt change a winning system of power and pace if it is was working for you mr wenger

It's obvious for me that arsenal need 4 players to become a world class team like bayern and real madrid i couldn't dare mention barcelona because they have unbelievable front three and they maybe the best attack in history of football we are lacking quality in the ST as well as the RW of course giroud and campvell are very good players but in my opinion they are less in quality than the rest of the team so we need to improve the quality in these positins About the DM it's a number issue and i think the position is covered with flamini doing good job and elneny coming which can be deployed there About the fourth signing we need is a center back I don't think i saw till now enough minutes for gabriel to tell if he can make the position his own or not But what makes me doubt him that wenger didn't choose him till now over per which means he is not miles ahead of him so i think we need a new better CB This team can go and fight for every thing even the champions leafue....
It wont hurt to play like this for a few games and hopefully as the back lin becomes more composed the front players will be play with less anxiety and express themselves.
It was also good to see Alexis Sanchez back on the pitch even if it was only for the last 15 minutes, but it will be interesting to see his choice for the front line in next weeks game against Chelsea, but Le Prof likes problems like that!
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
back in the day we had a double act up front that worked in tandem perfectly in berkamp and henry one couldn't really function without the other properly almost the perfect combo for a strike pair graceful speedy winger converted c / f and the perfect no 10 with perfect all round vision and goalscoring ability what do we have now that is that equivalence we have a wordly no 10 but no great gracefully speedy henry type c / f and there are none like that out there atm maybe a few potential wannabes remy lacaztte and the likes but really ozil needs a double act with someone and maybe we will see it click into place with sanchez maybe he has the ability to be an henry winger converted c / f has similar traits pace skill strength can score ace goals just needs to find his feet at c / f and he will form a deadly partnership with ozil i think maybe the old time wenger classic 4411 the ox on the left and walcott on the right Ramsey and new d / m in the middle would work a treat for me this formation never dies out just gets reinvented to suit the players available
Hes a jedi but i agree we need cazorla back or player like him or rosicky or song and coquin wasnt song who can still play with the passing of the other players in the team xhaka is usually good on ball but so bad off of it hes been a bust so far we almost need the french connection again they have quality players we could use but honestly i think auba will be more effective on flank pnce we get laca back it takes alot of strength to play up front in the premier league it takes two years to rebuild in pl at least bit we have had two rough years and not nearly as rough as chelseas or man u or Liverpool or well this is as big as totteham will be before we make them drop down again and oh do nt forget man city either lets remember our history
Yes I know what everybody will say but miki can finish and on paper it doesn't maybe look like a wow but with miki ozil and laca rotting in the game with ozil's into the box with Ramsey and wilshere also breaking into the box arsenal will be a dream to watch and defenitly deliver results when Abu comes back miki goes in Nelson place Ramsey can be replaced with xhaka with the faster teams konslny can be replaced with belirn and kolasinac be played in front of bellrn where bellrn is now in the 3 -5-2 system
CB & DM really need some boost on quality presence... Some beast in front back four & versatile CB if we still gonna play with zonal marking, some pacey like kos could boost our back confident... Realize how bad mert is, he is not leader material for our back but Kos is the only one..
