Thankfully, it's ridiculously good fun and despite the fact you're always being pitted against bigger and
badder beasties, that sense of achievement never dies.
While it does present some rather impressive set pieces, the story never really serves as anything more than a pretense to introduce bigger,
badder beasties to fight.

To an extent, I'm willing to accept the premise that many of these
beasties are grunts for big
bad Bowser, particularly the ones throwing hammers or boomerangs directly at the plumber's head, but I just can't bring myself to attack the Wigglers.
