industry with a few
bad actors.

debt settlement providers have never come together as a unified voice to slam the
debt management side, the nonprofit DMP providers have frequently come together (and acted individually), to vilify the concept of
debt settlement itself, and later, to call out what they see as
bad business practices found throughout the
debt settlement side of the
industry.
Both TASC and USOBA have had ample opportunity to reign in
bad acts, control membership and stand for some set of fair and reasonable regulation for members and consumers instead of fighting almost every state and proposal for reasonable boundaries for the
debt settlement industry.
As with any large
industry, there are both good and
bad Debt Settlement companies in operation, and it is wise to be sure the one you choose has your best interest at heart.
