This is NOT to say that all
penny stocks are
bad investments.
They don't care about
penny stocks (no liquidity) or leveraged ETFs (they've got futures accounts and don't need»em) so those are
bad for pretty much everyone.
The
bad news is, while a
penny stock is defined as any share less than $ 5, TradeMonster will hit you with an additional $.0005 per share charge on for any
stocks priced less than $ 1.
If you lose money investing in
penny stocks, you may think your main mistake was
bad timing.
Lest you think that
penny stocks are a surefire way to be scammed and lose money, let me present their flip side — they are not all
bad!
These are great opportunities for
penny stock companies and promoters — but
bad for investors looking for an unbiased opinion on a
stock.
Worst case, I have a huge credit card limit that could get me through in a pinch and I can sell
stocks in my personal account to pay it off before paying a
penny of interest.
Most novice investors who come to me for advice have usually been burned
badly by trying to trade
penny stocks in an online brokerage account — something my teen protégés would never do.
What ensued from that, however, was an interesting discussion between community members on trading in
penny stocks (for better or
worse) at several different Canadian online brokerages.
And
worse: manipulators and scammers often run the
penny -
stock game.

badly.
The odds are about that
bad, as trying to get rich buying
penny stocks.
