There are already evident threads of continuity in the IV that will run through all of the
cars: the sheer breadth of the
power band and the way the engine revs out to the limiter with real freedom, the fantastic accuracy of the gearbox and the excellent braking feel, and — the key quality — the malleability of the chassis balance.
I put the tow
car in 1 in order to keep the torque and speed up, instead of allowing it to shift into second and dropping the engine out of the
power band.
This is compounded by the rubber -
band action of the CVT, which works well to take advantage of available
power but seems to numb the connection to the
car and cause uncertainty about jumping into a hole in traffic.

cars worked very well with stick shifts because without a manual transmission the engines were impossible to keep in the
power band.

Upshifts from the nine - speed torque - converter automatic take longer to arrive, downshifts show up at the right time with an almost preternatural ability and the engine has no problem pushing the

power band.
Peak torque early in the

The
power band of the drive system continuously pulls the
car faster all the way to the red line, allowing for minimal
power drop on the upshift through most gears.
In Sport mode, the
