We know how much radiation comes from the sun, and we know the effects of CO2, but there are pretty large error
bars on aerosols that this mission could help with.

bars on human
aerosols are so large that even TCR can't be reasonably constrained.
I am fairly sure their error
bars don't take these a priori uncertainties into account, but they have a lengthy discussion that says
aerosols could conceivably have a large effect
on their results if correlated with surface temperature.
If and when that happens, we will have lost all effective influence
on global warming —
barring, of course, the heroic effort of massive «geo - engineering,» such as injecting sulphate
aerosols into the stratosphere.
