I like to add some dried oregano (fresh is
too potent), and fresh (or dried)
basil to my tomato
sauce.
1) Combine
basil leaves, nuts, olive oil, water and garlic in a food processor and pulse until you can a thick
sauce (if
too thick, add 1 teaspoon of water at a time until it reaches desired consistency) 2) Add salt to taste.
I made my own
sauce and let it simmer for awhile with the seasonings; I think it would've been
too bland for us with just tomato
sauce (
basil, parsley, garlic powder, Italian seasoning and a few bay leaves).
