You don't melt them, you just mix them into
the batter like chocolate chips.

So whether
chocolate chips are your thing, or you
like to get a little bit crazier by adding spinach into the mix, it's time to
batter up (LOL can't believe I went there...).
I
like to throw a handful of
chocolate chips into the
batter for extra-fudgy brownies, but you could add nuts instead or leave out the mix - ins completely.
(My first attempt involved a very wet,
batter -
like dough, and let's just say the results were less than desirable...) Then, add the
chocolate chips or other desired mix - in.
Cake mix is added to
chocolate chip cookie dough, making these cookies taste
like cake
batter!

chocolate chips or fresh cranberries, or you can have a few of both
