Why does it seem so surprising to religious people that we Atheists would
be just as
skeptical about someone making a claim like this as we
are about the
religion itself?
I
am skeptical about most of the bureaucratic trappings of organized
religion, and I constantly pull and push to improve the church I attend.
and most of you
are likely
skeptical about the claims of OTHER
religions.
New Age spirituality isn't really my cup of tea, and ever since I visited India I've
been a bit
skeptical about Eastern
religions, as they seem to perpetuate a cultural indifference toward human suffering.

is the scientific method, which
is used to rationalize and
be skeptical about certain «truth» claims made by people in this world (whether it
be religion, homeopathy, bigfoot, etc...)

be about the quality of that
religion, to ignore it
is to ignore one of the most salient facts
about American life.

's ok to tell your kid the animal
is in that place (even if your
religion is skeptical about animals in the afterlife) for the sake of this discussion the dog
is a stand - in for any loved one and you can elaborate on the finer points of theology when he
