(Step 1) Painting cabinets, adding
beadboard,
trim and hardware.
Paint existing 1980's vanity, buy new cheapest cottagey faucets we can find, new towel rack, wall art, accessories, would love to cover the ceiling with
beadboard and
trim.
First, here's your supply list: primer * for walls;
beadboard wallpaper, chair rail
trim, sponge, measuring tape, bucket, level, scissors, roller, brad nails and hammer (or brad nailer), paint color of choice, miter saw for chair rail
trim.
Which are the whites you have used in your house on the
trims and
beadboards.
Once the paste has had sufficient time to bond with the wall (about 30 minutes or so) carefully
trim the bottom of the
beadboard wallpaper.
That's the
beadboard and
trim I installed!
We always keep the
beadboard and board and batten the same (
trim) color and typically use either 1/4 round or small crown molding to transition at the ceiling.
I love the exposed brick and the ideas of painting the cabinets and
trim a nice creamy white with
beadboard below the high moldings & a nice color above.
It's still not done but we've definitely made a lot of progress from painting the
trim, doors and the walls, to adding
beadboard wallpaper, changing out the light fixture and adding some new chairs!
I am curious about the
beadboard /
trim treatment along edge of the bathtub.
I also added a quick fresh coat of PARA's Jo Jo Whitewash (my favourite white as we all know:)-RRB- to the
beadboard and
trim just to clean things up a bit.
The wood
beadboard, crown moulding, window
trim, and casing, match but the toile breaks up what could be too much of any one color.

See the good thing about this method is, if you were using real
beadboard it would really stick out from the cabinets pretty far and you'd have to get some bigger
trim to
trim it out and hide the edges.
So, what started out as a simple job ended with me using an exacto knife to score along the
beadboard and along the upper
trim to get a clean line.
As was the case in the kitchen, we used white on the
trim and
beadboard, and went with a stained finish on the mudroom bench for some contrast and warmth.
I am getting ready to paint the hall bathroom that is still sporting the dingy beige
trim and
beadboard it has had since we moved in 8 years ago.
