I've got this idea to use a collection of various antique plates on the
wall above the bench - starting on the
beadboard panelling below the chair rail, and stretching all the way up onto the
painted blue
wall above.

I did some «budget - friendly» renovating of my kitchen 2 yrs ago, stripping old wallpaper, putting in the subway tile backsplash, adding bright white
beadboard halfway up
walls and on the existing white cabinet ends,
painting the rest of the
walls soft white (sometimes looks very very pale yellow).

walls with Sherwin Williams «Crystal Clear» (Duration Home brand) matte - finish
paint, and used Sherwin Williams «Extra White» (also Duration) on the

First, here's your supply list: primer * for
walls;

As soon as we closed on our house, we started several projects immediately — we replaced our roof, removed the scruffy edges on the extra carport (aka «winnie hole»), added hardwood (red oak) floors in the living room, dining room, kitchen / den, and laundry room to match the floors in the back half of the house, screened and recoated the hardwood floors in the back half of the house, replaced the two sliding glass doors from the kitchen / den out onto the porch with French doors, removed doors between the kitchen and dining room and between the den and entry way,
painted the wood panelling in the den,
painted the cabinets in the kitchen, replaced the old cabinet hardware, replaced the sink and range / hood, replaced a single
wall oven with a double one, added granite tile kitchen countertops, added a
beadboard backsplash, replaced a few light fixtures, added a chair rail in the dining room, added crown moulding in the living room and dining room, and
painted lots of rooms.
Here are the pictures of the kitchen / den area after the hardwood floors were put in, the cabinets and
walls were
painted white, the sliding glass doors were replaced with French doors, the odd door from the den into the entry way was removed, the wagon wheel hanging over the area for the kitchen table was removed, granite tile countertops were installed, a
beadboard backsplash was installed, a new sink was put in, and the appliances from the 1960s were replaced.
The homeowners wanted a fresh and bright interior, so they chose white -
painted beadboard for the
walls and ceiling.
It's still not done but we've definitely made a lot of progress from
painting the trim, doors and the
walls, to adding
beadboard wallpaper, changing out the light fixture and adding some new chairs!
I just ordered the
beadboard laundry drying
wall rack from Ballards, so I may be inspired to
paint the dull (ivory)
walls before it goes up.
I'm looking for a buffet just like that to
paint white and use in my kitchen - I'm planning that it will go against a
wall, but if it doesn't I LOVE your
